About me

I'm Adella and for the past 22 years, I’ve worked in Education personal tutoring, supporting, and mentoring vulnerable learners. My work has included supporting young people and adults who are neurodiverse as well as those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges (SEMH).

My focus has always been on improving inclusion, engagement, retention, achievement, progression, and wellbeing. As well as being a personal tutor, I provided one-to-one and group support, created events, activities, and volunteering opportunities that helped learners grow in confidence and find their place in the world.

Over the years, I’ve seen how many of the challenges experienced by learners with Autism and Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can resemble the body and mind being in a constant state of “survival mode” - a natural response to ongoing stress.

Some common signs of survival mode in people who are neurodiverse can include:

  • Feeling constantly on edge or overwhelmed by sensory input or everyday expectations

  • Experiencing meltdowns or shutdowns when demands become too much to manage

  • Finding it hard to concentrate or retain information when the brain is in stress response

  • Sleep difficulties and fatigue, often linked to heightened stress hormones

  • Masking behaviours, which can lead to exhaustion and burnout over time

  • Feeling less resilient to setbacks or changes in routine, sometimes interpreting these challenges as personal failure

For many people, a diagnosis of Autism or ADHD may not come until adulthood. Without this understanding, it’s common to internalise struggles - to blame themselves or to feel as though they are “not good enough.” In my experience, this lack of awareness can make individuals more vulnerable to anxiety, depression, or burnout, in addition to the everyday challenges of being neurodivergent.

That’s why I now combine my background in education and wellbeing with Reiki Energy Healing and Mindfulness practices, to help people with Autism and ADHD (and those who support them) reduce stress, build resilience, and discover new ways of thriving.

I recognise that executive dysfunction, sensory sensitivities, emotional regulation, and energy balance play crucial roles in academic success. Reiki for Autism and ADHD

1. Non-Invasive & Sensory-Friendly Healing

Reiki is a gentle, hands-off (or light touch) practice that can also be given at distance, making it ideal for those who may be sensitive to touch or struggle with traditional therapy settings.

Sessions can be tailored to honor sensory preferences, whether that means using no touch at all, a quiet environment, or adjusting lighting and sound.
