Reiki Energy Healing

Reiki (Ray-Key) is a natural, gentle, holistic energy healing technique. The word Reiki is Japanese for "universal life force energy" or "spiritual energy". It is one component of the Usui System of Natural Healing, developed by Dr Mikao Usui in the early 1900s – a system that also includes using sacred symbols, meditations and mantras.

During a healing session, Reiki is channelled into the body by an attuned Reiki Master, using 12 hand positions to support the natural flow of life force energy throughout your entire body. When the body becomes imbalanced by mental, physical or chemical stress the flow of energy becomes blocked, interrupted and stagnated. Reiki gently works to clear any energetic blockages and imbalances, by triggering the parasympathetic nervous system, restoring the body back to a place of inner peace and harmony. Reiki often brings about a sense of deep relaxation, stimulates our natural healing abilities and initiates detoxification.

What happens during a Reiki Energy Healing treatment?

Clients are asked to lay down, fully clothed on the massage table, or to sit in a chair if preferred, either way, I will ensure you are comfortable and can fully relax. I will then play peaceful Reiki healing music and light incense with your permission. Then I will gently place my hands on or slightly above your body, targeting specific areas and working with the entire energy field. The energy flows where it is most needed, addressing the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual imbalances. While this is happening, you may feel tingles in your body, warm or cool sensations in your arms and hands, experience visualisations or twitch as the energy works to harmonise. You may even drift off to sleep, or you feel nothing at all which is normal as well – Reiki will still be working.

When finished, I will share with you any intuitive guidance, answer any questions you may have and talk through after-care.

What happens during an Online/Distance Reiki Energy Healing treatment?


Distance healing from the comfort of your own home is a powerful and equally as effective alternative to 'hands on' healing in person.

For an online /distance treatment, all you need to do is find a quiet, comfortable place in your own home, where you can sit or lie and relax without being disturbed. This is precious time for you. I recommend wearing a sleep eye mask, listening to some peaceful Reiki healing music and then just relax. We will have a video call before the treatment, and afterward too, and I will share with you any intuitive guidance, answer any questions you may have and talk through after-care.

Chakra Balancing

Chakra balancing is deeply rooted in ancient Eastern traditions, particularly within the Indian practices of Ayurveda and yoga. These philosophies teach that the body has seven primary energy centres called Chakras ( Crown, Third Eye, Throat, Heart, Solar Plexus, Sacral and Root) which are spinning energy wheels linked to different aspects of our being. Each chakra corresponds to specific physical, emotional, and spiritual attributes.

The purpose of chakra balancing is to align these energy centres and ensure a smooth flow of energy throughout the body. A chakra balancing treatment can involve various techniques such as energy work, visualisation, meditation, sound therapy, crystals, and essential oils. By identifying and addressing imbalances in the chakras, I will help clear blockages and restore optimal energy flow, enhancing overall wellness and well-being.

Mental & Emotional Clearing

Mental & Emotional Clearing is an additional service within Reiki that, when combined with a Reiki treatment, enhances mental clarity and focus, alleviates mental trauma, promotes deep relaxation, removes energy blockages, and helps boost overall energy.

When we encounter traumatic events and fail to address them, our emotions can become suppressed. This trapped energy often leads to conditions like anxiety and depression. Over time, mental and emotional suppression can manifest as physical illness. This healing method is perfect for those dealing with stress, overwhelm, anxiety, and depression. Mental and Emotional Clearing alleviates stress and tension in the mind, helping to make sense of past traumas that may contribute to anxiety or depression.

It is also highly beneficial for those with serious illnesses, as it reduces stress associated with being unwell. By relieving stress, you will feel deeply relaxed and calm, significantly boosting your well-being and vitality.

Intuitive Guidance

As an intuitive empath, I've always had a highly developed intuition and have been able to tune into the energy and emotions of people around me. However, this intensified when I began energy healing work, developed a daily meditation practice and raised my consciousness. I am now even more highly attuned and experience intuition through feeling, 'knowing', words and mental images, regularly.

When I began practicing Reiki both in-person and by distance, I quickly noticed that during most of the treatments I was receiving not only information about blocks and the location of pain in my client’s energy system, I was also receiving specific guidance in the form of messages to share with my client. These messages present as images, sounds, colours, words, sensations, emotions or feelings, which I make a mental note of and then relay back to the client when we have a chat about the experience at the end of the treatment. I never fill in the blanks, make assumptions or try to connect the messages as they are personal to the individual. Clients often tell me they experience vivid messages during the treatment too and some have even had the same messages as myself during their treatment. Clients can feel reassured and empowered by the messages and some may need to take the information away and give it some thought.

Crystal Healing

During some Reiki treatments with clients, I am intuitively guided to use crystals as part of the treatment to help with energy clearing and balancing. I do this by setting an intention for the crystal, charging it with Reiki Energy and then placing the crystal over the appropriate chakra point on the client's body e.g. Clear Quartz on the Crown chakra, Amethyst on the Third Eye chakra and Rose quartz on the Heart chakra. This technique can also be used during Chakra Balancing. Clients have reported feeling the crystal pulling energy out of them in the location of pain, or energy from the body being directed towards the crystal, the crystal can become warm after this has occurred but then return to normal temperature after the treatment has ended.

Body Scan

We can become unconsciously disconnected from our bodies for several reasons, especially if we have experienced severe trauma or life challenges such as abuse, bullying, violence, chronic illness or injury, eating disorders or mental health conditions. Disconnection can lead to disassociation, where we become an observer of our bodies rather than being in control of it. Disassociation means we no longer take notice of any of the signals our bodies give us for good reason, such as feeling hungry or full, or becoming numb to pain or discomfort. When we continue to ignore these signals for a long period of time we become unhealthy and very sick. However, the body can be used as a tool for mindfulness practice, which helps us to look after our bodies, improve our connection to them and cultivate self love. The body scan is a mindfulness meditation practice where I guide you to move your awareness to different parts of your body, scanning for pain, tension, or anything out of the ordinary. It can help you feel more in tune with your physical and emotional self as well as your environment. Body scan is a great way to reconnect with your body and to highlight areas you may not be consciously aware of that we can then focus on during Reiki Energy Healing treatments.

Sensory Awareness Practice

We have 5 major senses- touch, smell, taste, hearing and sight. And, in urban environments, it is easy to become overwhelmed with the vast amount of information we are subject to daily. Our brains do an amazing job at filtering this information but we do and can become over stimulated and drained if we do not make a conscious decision to unplug and recharge everyday. We can overeat sugar and salt, spend too much time on technology and we've become proud multitaskers! This, unfortunately, is a form of 'mindlessness', as nothing really has our full attention when multitasking, we are not present with ourselves, our loved ones or the wider community and it affects our relationships and health. Overstimulation and non-attentive behaviour have led us to a disconnection from our senses. When we begin using our senses as a tool we can reconnect with the world in a much more engaged way, just as we did when we were babies. I will guide you on a journey through all of your senses to ground yourself in the present moment. This will enable you to relax, and focus on these sensations rather than what is causing your distress. Just being more fully attentive to what we are actually experiencing in any given moment, deepens our understanding of ourselves and reduces our stress.

Thought Watching Practice/Self-Inquiry Practice

Our thoughts and emotions are intrinsically entwined and have a deep effect on one another. We have become overthinkers, believing our thoughts are our entirety, which can lead to unhelpful ways of thinking that can make life difficult and impact our mental health. Instead of suppressing our emotions or letting our thoughts rule us, we can welcome them without fear and judgment by using mindfulness exercises that involve watching thoughts and becoming aware of emotions. This can lead to greater self-compassion, emotional regulation, increased confidence and improved relationships. When we are aware of our thought patterns and emotions, we can make better choices. We can choose to overcome limiting beliefs that might be holding us back. We may realise that certain relationships or certain situations breed negative emotions within us and decide it's time for a change. In this way, these mindfulness practices allow us to take our power back.

Mindfulness in Everyday Life

Mindfulness is a state of being and requires remaining in a state of awareness, non judgement and compassion and to truly embody it we must practice it every day. Becoming mindful every day has many benefits, we engage more presently in our surroundings and experience life more fully. It can also prevent us from making mistakes at work or home, increase our ability to communicate with others, help us to make better life choices and be less reactive to everything in our day. It makes us more efficient, productive, creative and attentive with others, as we are no longer living in survival mode by the hormones of stress. We will explore and recognise where it is needed the most in your life by examining which parts of your day feel rushed, unconsidered and generally stressed. This may be:

  • during the morning routine, waking up, getting ready for the day

  • the morning commute

  • mealtimes

  • conversations with friends or family

  • the bedtime routine

We will create simple routines with activities that you are able to practice daily with a mindful approach using visualisation, allowing you time to reflect on any thoughts or feelings that arise before you practice in your day to day life.

Meditation

Meditation is an ancient practice that is becoming increasingly popular due to its highly effective, inexpensive method for stress reduction, focus and improving overall health and well-being. Meditation takes many different forms and is used for many different reasons and is a great way to cultivate mindfulness. It begins with a withdrawal of the senses and continues with focused concentration on the object of the meditation, which can then morph into an experience of oneness with that which is being meditated on.

We will be focussing on using two different types of meditation:

  • Guided Meditation- you will be verbally led through meditation and guided to meditate in response to the words, either in person or via audio/video. This method is great for beginners as the guide's voice and instructions provide a focal point, centring your attention on the present moment and the specific objectives of the meditation, leading you gently through an interactive inner experience.

  • Mindfulness Meditation- is a practice of using the tool of meditation to help you become more mindful in the moment and it provides an excellent opportunity for you to carve out time every day to practice its principles.

Breathwork

Breath is essential for life, yet, something so profound, and central to our lives is very much taken for granted. Most of us are only consciously aware of our breath when we are struggling to breathe or holding our breath and this is usually caused by being under some form of stress. As stress is becoming more and more prevalent in our day to day lives, many people are constantly breathing incorrectly, taking quick, shallow, short breaths from the chest rather than deeper, longer breaths from the abdomen. Over time, incorrect breathing can cause headaches, muscle tension/pain and chronic stress.

Taking long, deep breaths instantly engages the body's relaxation response and allows us to become conscious of our breathing, bringing the body out of the stress response and returning to a state of balance.

'Breathwork' refers to a variety of breathing techniques and exercises that can be used to improve all aspects of health and well-being, making it one of the most natural methods of treating a variety of issues. It exists in a variety of forms, and while more complex practices exist, there are many quick and easy exercises that can you can learn and work into your daily wellness routine.
